Meet Toby & Tiger: The Adorable Feline Mascots of Hermann Grain Bins Bed & Breakfast and Retreat Center

Sometimes the Best Part of a Vacation Has Four Paws

When people remember a special vacation, it's often the unexpected little moments that stay with them.

A beautiful sunset.

A wonderful breakfast.

A great conversation around the fire pit.

Or perhaps...

A tiny striped kitten curling up around your feet while you sip your morning coffee.

At Hermann Grain Bins Bed & Breakfast and Retreat Center, many guests tell us that two very special members of our hospitality team made their visit even more memorable.

Meet Toby and Tiger—our friendly outdoor mascot cats.

Meet Toby and Tiger

Toby and Tiger are striped short-haired brothers from the same litter, and they have quickly become favorites among many of our guests.

Curious, playful, and affectionate on their own terms, these two outdoor companions enjoy greeting visitors as they explore the property.

You might meet them:

🐾 Relaxing near the front porch

🐾 Exploring the gardens

🐾 Wandering through the pine grove

🐾 Visiting guests around the fire pit

🐾 Lounging on the Pine Tree PatioTiger curled up under the red rocking chairs at Hermann Grain Bins Bed and Breakfast

Or perhaps they'll simply appear beside you while you're enjoying the peaceful countryside.

Every day is a new adventure for Toby and Tiger.

Morning Coffee Comes with New Friends

One of the simplest pleasures at Hermann Grain Bins is beginning the day with a cup of coffee on the porch.

Many guests settle into one of our rocking chairs, surrounded by towering pine trees and fresh country air.

If Toby or Tiger decides to stop by, don't be surprised if they gently weave around your legs, asking for a little attention before heading off on their next adventure.

For cat lovers, these quiet moments often become favorite vacation memories.

Garden Companions

The gardens around Hermann Grain Bins are another favorite place for Toby and Tiger to explore.

While guests enjoy flowers, landscaping, and peaceful outdoor seating, the brothers may be nearby watching butterflies, investigating leaves, or simply enjoying the sunshine.

Their playful personalities add an extra touch of charm to the property.

Fire Pit Evenings Are Better with Furry Friends

As guests gather around the fire pit to share stories, roast marshmallows, or enjoy the evening air, Toby and Tiger sometimes make a casual appearance.

They aren't entertainers on a schedule—they're simply part of daily life here.

Sometimes they'll stay for a while.

Sometimes they'll continue on their rounds.

Either way, many guests enjoy seeing them as part of the relaxed atmosphere that makes

Hermann Grain Bins feel like home

The Pine Tree Patio: A Favorite Spot

The Pine Tree Patio is one of the most peaceful places on the property.

Surrounded by mature trees and fresh country air, it's an inviting place to read, chat with friends, or simply enjoy nature.

It's also one of Toby and Tiger's favorite places to visit.

You never know when one of the brothers might stop by to say hello.

Meet Toby... the Athletic One!

Every family has one member with a unique talent.

For Toby, it's jumping.

Guests are often surprised to discover that Toby is capable of jumping from the ground directly onto a willing guest's shoulder.

If you're sitting quietly outdoors and Toby seems especially interested in you, don't be surprised if he decides you're the perfect perch!

It's one of the many things that makes his personality unforgettable.

Because Toby and Tiger are outdoor cats, they have their natural claws, so guests who choose to interact closely with them should do so gently and be aware that playful cats can occasionally scratch accidentally.

As with any animal, interactions are always voluntary—for both guests and the cats.

A Note for Guests with Allergies or Those Who Prefer Not to Interact with Cats

We know that not everyone is comfortable around animals, and that's perfectly okay.

Toby and Tiger are outdoor mascots who spend their time outside enjoying the property, they are NOT allowed in the "roost" common area nor any of the guest grain bins where you sleep.

Guests who prefer not to interact with them can simply continue enjoying the grounds, and we are always happy to answer questions about the property before your visit.

Why Animal Encounters Create Lasting Memories

Many travelers appreciate places where they can experience a genuine connection with nature.

For some guests, that includes meeting friendly animals along the way.

Children often enjoy watching Toby and Tiger explore.

Adults frequently smile as the brothers quietly wander over to investigate a rocking chair or sunny patio.

These spontaneous moments help create the welcoming atmosphere that many guests associate with Hermann Grain Bins.

More Than a Bed & Breakfast

At Hermann Grain Bins Bed & Breakfast and Retreat Center, we believe memorable vacations are made from countless small moments:

  • Relaxing on outdoor patios
  • Time with family and friends
  • And, for many guests, a friendly visit from Toby or Tiger

Together, these experiences help create the warm, welcoming atmosphere we hope every guest remembers long after returning home.
